Although PC based filtering software can be configured by each user to suit their own profile, this does require a level of knowledge that not all users posses. This software solution has disadvantages over server-based filtering in that updates need to be managed by the users, it can be bypassed by smart kids, and it can affect the performance of the computer. It also has a relatively high cost per user compared with server-based filtering that offers economies of scale. |
